A Tool Designed Specifically for Soap Dough
If you've been using a hand-crank polymer clay gun for your soap dough embeds, you already know the frustration — stiff dough, limited design detail, and a tool that was never really built for what you're asking it to do.
The XL Soap Dough Extruder was sourced specifically for the demands of cold process soap dough — thicker, denser, and far more textured than polymer clay. A heavy-duty metal frame, a rigid twist-on endcap, and a barrel that opens on both ends for easy cleanup. Every detail was chosen with soapmakers in mind.
More Design Space Means More Detail
Standard hand-crank polymer clay extruders typically have a working area of around 18mm — great for basic shapes, but limiting when you want to extrude a detailed animal, a layered floral, or a complex geometric design.
Our extruder features a 58mm disc with a 38mm working area, giving you more than double the design canvas of a standard clay gun. That extra space makes a real difference in the level of detail your embeds can hold.
Limited on fine detail.
sharp detail, and clean results.
- ✦ More detailed animal shapes — defined features that actually look like the design
- ✦ Cleaner floral designs — petals that hold their shape through the extrusion process
- ✦ Complex geometric patterns — crisp, consistent lines from the first pull to the last
Why the Wall Around the Design Matters
Something worth knowing about extruder disc design: the pressure required to push thick soap dough through a disc is significant — more than most people expect. A disc with a very large working area and thin surrounding walls can be more vulnerable to cracking under that repeated force.
Our 58mm disc is intentionally designed with reinforced walls around every design. That extra material helps absorb the extrusion pressure, which means your discs hold up longer and deliver consistent results batch after batch.
Our Promise to You
If one of our discs breaks during normal use with your Jamley Lane Soaps extruder, we will replace it — no hassle, no lengthy back and forth. Just reach out and we will take care of you. We stand behind every disc we make.
Tips for the Best Results
After making and testing hundreds of extrusions, here are the two things that make the biggest difference:
Mist Your Disc with Isopropyl Alcohol Before Loading
A light mist of isopropyl alcohol on the disc face helps prevent sticky soap dough from gripping the walls, giving you a clean and smooth release. This is especially helpful with intricate designs that have thin details — animal legs, delicate petals, fine geometric lines. It takes two seconds and makes a noticeable difference.
Knead Your Soap Dough Thoroughly Before Loading
Cold or stiff dough is much harder to extrude and puts more strain on the disc. Taking a couple of minutes to knead your dough with dry hands until it's warm and pliable makes the whole process smoother — and your embeds come out cleaner too.

A Note on Safety
While aluminum is not recommended for direct contact with active lye, aluminum extruders are safe for use with fully saponified soap dough — the saponification reaction is complete and no free lye is present. This is standard across virtually all clay extruders used in professional soapmaking.
Always practice proper lye safety and keep your extruder away from any active lye work at all times.
Jamley Lane Soaps is not responsible for damages resulting from improper or negligent use.
