While aluminum is not recommended for use with cold-process soap making, aluminum extruders are safe to use with fully saponified soap dough as the pure lye is no longer present at the end of a saponification reaction. Almost all clay extruders used for soap making are made from aluminum as it is a versatile and durable material, but it is always recommended to practice soap and lye safety!
